NOTICE OF RACE
25th ANNIVERSARY
J/FEST NORTHWEST
JUNE 13th - 15th, 2008

1. MANAGEMENT. Northwest Marine Productions and Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle, will have the authority to reject any entry before each race starts; interpret the rules and conditions of the race; and decide any protests. The fleet shall be divided into handicap and or one-design classes according to rating and other factors at the discretion of Northwest Marine Productions, Inc.
2. ELIGIBILITY. All J/Boats Owners and Crew are invited to attend:
A. Conform to the current PIYA Regulations Governing Minimum Equipment and Accommodation Standards for Category III and or class rules.
3. RULES. The rules governing J/FEST NW will be:
A. The Racing Rules of Sailing for [2005-2008] and the prescriptions of US SAILING.
B. Class rules for each One Design Fleet as modified locally.
C. This Race Notice, and;
D. The Sailing Instructions, including any amendments.
4. RATING AND CLASSES. The organizers will assign classes. Scheduled classes are: J/22, J/24, J/80, J/29, J/30, J/35, J/105, J/109, J/PHRF, and J/Cruising class.
A. J/ Cruising class. Flying sails and no flying sails will race one fun race on Saturday only. Race distance to be less than 20 miles and distance will be determined by the race committee and weather (winds). All J/Boats are invited to the cruising class. If you don’t normally race, come on out and have some fun with the J/Cruisers. Trophies will be awarded Saturday evening for cruising classes only.
B. All yachts in the PHRF Class must have a current PHRF-NW valid speed potential rating and certificate if racing in a PHRF class. The race committee will assign ratings to the J/No-Flying Sails class.
5. MOORAGE. J/FEST moorage is available at the Port of Seattle's Shilshole Bay Marina. Guest moorage rates must be paid upon arrival.
6. LOCATION. All shoreside events will be held at the Corinthian Yacht Club Shilshole Bay clubhouse located at: 7755 Seaview Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117. All racing will be held in Puget Sound. Starting area will be within 5 miles of Shilshole Bay Marina.
7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS.
Friday June 13: 12:00 registration and skippers meeting for J/109 class
Friday June 13: 12:30 briefing for all other participants in Friday’s practice start, mark rounding
Friday June 13: 14:00 scheduled start for J/109 Pacific NW Championship race 1. Practice starts, mark rounding and speed testing for all other participants who pay additional race committee fee.
Friday June 13: 19:00 – 21:00 wine tasting hosted by Longboard Vineyards for all J/Fest participants at the CYC Shilshole club house
Saturday June 14: 09:00 registration. 10:00 Skippers meeting
Saturday June 14: 12:00 scheduled start of first race, no starts after 17:00
Saturday June 14: 19:00 dinner, two dinner tickets are included with your entry fee, additional dinners are available for $15.00 each. Fisheries Supply sponsored door prize extravaganza and J/Cruising Class trophy presentation will follow the dinner.
Sunday June 15: 11:00 scheduled start for first race, no starts after 16:00. Sunday June 15: Awards presentation immediately following the days racing (except for J Cruising Class).
8. AWARDS. J/FEST class awards will be presented for first, second and third place in each class after racing on Sunday. J Cruising Class awards will be presented on Saturday evening. Best performance trophy, the FRANCIS L. LESOURD CUP will be awarded at the discretion of the race committee using class scores and class competitiveness as a basis.
9. ENTRY PROCEDURE. Please complete and mail an Entry Form with fees as soon as possible.
A. Sailing Instructions will be presented to each accepted entry at registration.
B. A late fee of $10.00 will be charged to all entries received after June 6th.
10. FEES.
Entry fee if received before June 6th................ $120.00
Entry fee if received after June 6th.............. $130.00
Additional Friday Race Committee fee (J/109 fleet only)............... $50.00
Additional Friday Race Committee fee for practice starts,
mark rounding & speed testing (can be paid at 12:30 briefing on Friday)......... $20.00
Entry fee includes two dinner tickets and door prize tickets for the Fisheries Supply door prize extravaganza.
Additional dinner tickets / door prize tickets for crew, family and friends are available at $15.00 each.
Cancellations received by June 6th, 2008 will be refunded less an administrative charge of $25. Entry Fee will not be returned after this date.

J/FEST NORTHWEST 2008

Sail Northwest, your northwest J/Boat dealer, invites you to join us for the original J/FEST. For 25 years, we have had some of the best racing and after race socializing available on the planet. This is a two-day regatta open to all J/Boats owners and crew. Starts will be provided for ONE DESIGN, PHRF AND CRUISING classes. The on the water activities are hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle's crack race management team. The J/109 fleet will be hosting their Pacific NW Championships. Racing will begin on Friday for the J/109 fleet. Practice starts are being offered on Friday for all other participants for an additional fee. Shoreside activities will be at the CYC Shilshole clubhouse.
